Alumni Interest Groups

The Tavern Alumni Association has gained official recognition from the Penn State Alumni Association. By definition, an Alumni Interest Group is a group of alumni and friends who have common interests arising from their University recognized co-curricular activities or common cultural or professional postgraduate interests.

Can we recapture the past?

A few of us believe we can. As former employees or patrons of the Tavern, we fondly remember our days in State College. We often refer to the Tavern as a fraternity of sorts and jokingly refer to ourselves as "Tavern Alums".

In September 1999, a few hardy souls banded together to draw up a charter and officially establish the Tavern Restaurant Alumni Interest Group.

Our Mission

Promote Penn State among past, present, and future alumni, students, and friends.
Provide networking opportunities for past and current employees as well as friends of The Tavern Restaurant through Tavern AIG events.
Provide scholarship opportunities through the support of the Renaissance Scholarship Program.

The Penn State Alumni Association, with 145,000 members is the largest dues paying alumni association in the country.
